How registration works

Your passport and migration card need to be photocopied so you can keep your original documents. Your registration will usually be ready the next working day.

If you don't want to come personally it is alright for a travel representative to bring your documents (passport and migration card). You don't need to come in person.

If you are staying in a private apartment we would ask you to provide the name and contact details of the apartment owner. We need to put this information on the registration form.

If you are travelling onwards to another destination please speak to our visa manager about extending your registration to avoid re-registration at your next destination. It may be possible.

We do not provide residential registration to Russian citizens.

Guests arriving to St Petersburg from another Russian city

If you are not arriving directly in St Petersburg but staying first in another city, such as Moscow, you should retain a copy of the hotel registration there to prove that you were registered for that period. If you don't it may cost more.

Complications if you don't get registered

Our recommendation, for your safety, is that you retain a photocopy of your registration at all times. If you were stopped and could not prove your registration you could be detained and pay a substantial fine. The police may contact us to prove your registration.  There may be substantial penalties for the inviting organisation as well. It is imperative that you do register to avoid future possible visa complications.

You will need to show your registration if you want to carry out banking or legal operations.
